Nigeria's Blessing Okagbare disqualified at the 12th African Games in Morocco after a false start

Nigerian female athlete, Blessing Okagbare was disqualified at the 12th African Games in Rabat after a false start in the 100-meter women's semi-finals heat 1.

She was disqualified at the starting block to beat the weapon. It was an enormous deception for the hopeful Nigerian medal who had won heat 3 of the first round of the event with a moment of 11.53 seconds earlier in the day.

Okagbare was already looking forward to the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex finals on Tuesday before the incident.

“This is disappointing. I was already looking forward to appearing in the final, but this is disappointing. I know my fans are disappointed and if you know me, you know i don’t just show up. I show up and i am also there. Today didn’t go as planned but, lesson learned and gratitude given to God for my journey so far.Sometimes the blessing is not always about what’s given but what He takes away” she said.

The heat was won by Marie Ta Lou of Cote d'Ivoire who returned 11.36 seconds, with Maxmila Imali of Kenya finishing second with 11.71 seconds.
