DPO, pregnant police officer, two others killed as gunmen attack Bayelsa police station


A Divisional Police Officer (DPO), a pregnant policewoman and two other policemen have been killed after suspected gunmen stormed Agudama- Ekpetiama Community police station in Yenagoa Local Government in Bayelsa state this morning Monday July 1st.



According to reports, the gunmen stormed the police station at about 2.15am shooting sporadically. One police officer escaped unhurt while another who was shot on the leg is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.



The community source further disclosed that all the rifles in the arsenal of the police station and uniforms belonging to the deceased officers were taken away by the gunmen.



The remains of the deceased officers have been deposited in the morgue at the Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa.



Confirming the attack, the state police command spokesperson, Asinim Butswat, said police is on the trail of the assailants.
